One of the very exciting and very dramatic refurbishment projects we are currently working on is a total renovation, including loft extension and basement conversion, to a mid-terrace house in Balham.
In its present state, the house is a standard three bedroom terrace with an upstairs bathroom. Downstairs is a double reception room, with a lovely bay window at the front, and the kitchen.
As well as not under-going any of the renovations that many London homes have now been through, the interior itself was rather dated and the garden, which will also be revitalised in the process, was completely overgrown. So it is going to be an amazing transformation for the new owners.
Over the course of the next 10 months, Qualitas Construction will be adding a new bedroom, en-suite and walk-in wardrobe in the dormer loft extension, enhancing the space on the ground floor and building a basement conversion that will include another bedroom and bathroom and family living space.
As the renovation project encompasses the whole property, the house is completely unlivable at the moment so the client will not be moving in until it is complete.
However, with renovation projects like this it is important that the home owner (or someone on their behalf) is contactable to make decisions about any of the unforeseen issues that inevitably occur during the project.
You can follow the progress of this total refurbishment of a Balham mid-terrace house over the coming months.
